Regional Databases & Knowledge
Simco has established a framework to make historic hydrocarbon exploration consultancy knowledge accessible to clients, based on its own and other allied consulting houses' databases and knowledge.
Drawing on decades of proprietary exploration experience, this legacy expertise is now available to a new generation of explorationists, providing valuable geological, regional, and new-country entry insights across multiple countries, with a particular focus on Africa.
Much of this work relates to regions where blocks remain open for licensing or where farm-in opportunities are available, and is particularly useful for companies evaluating entry into new jurisdictions or preparing for upcoming licensing rounds.
The consultancy knowledge is underpinned by extensive historic exploration and opportunity evaluation work, including regional seismic interpretation, well ties, and integrated geological analyses. This experience spans areas containing proven discoveries and producing fields, many of which have been reviewed, giving clients confidence in the maturity, relevance, and credibility of the insights provided.
Simco’s consultants provide contextual guidance on basin evolution, play fairways, prospectivity, and regional exploration risk, supporting clients in the preparation of licence applications, technical submissions, and opportunity screening. Importantly, they also have extensive knowledge of petroleum legislation and operating experience in many jurisdictions.
Building on this foundation, Simco offers structured data management and data room solutions for governments. We are specifically set up to assist authorities in facilitating new country entrants by reducing the financial and practical barriers associated with reviewing initial subsurface datasets. Through professionally managed digital and physical data rooms, transparent and tiered access frameworks, and expert-led technical guidance, we help broaden investor participation while maintaining disciplined data governance and full sovereign control of datasets. This approach enables data to be positioned not simply as an archive, but as an active commercial asset that supports licensing momentum and capital attraction.
Access to the consultancy knowledge base and associated data resources is provided under a Confidentiality Agreement and includes a fee-based engagement with an experienced consultant, who works directly with clients to interpret the regional context, exploration rationale, and new-country entry considerations, supported by relevant technical material, including access to our seismic, well, and information databases.

Disclaimer: We have formed a joint venture with a partner that maintains extensive data banks and global experience, enabling us to cover additional countries. However, please note that in some cases the underlying technical data, primarily consisting of but not limited to seismic or well-information data, may not be available for direct release; access may instead be provided through consultation or secure data-room presentation. Use of this website or our services constitutes your acceptance and acknowledgment of these limitations.
