David Jones has over thirty years experience as a practising lawyer, initially as a barrister. He joined Total in 1973 to work on North Sea projects and has worked in the oil and gas industry ever since. He has held a variety of senior legal and managerial positions and has been an independent legal consultant since 1994.

His work has covered all aspect of the domestic and international upstream oil and gas industry, from bidding agreements through to crude oil offtake agreements, including joint venture and production sharing agreements and field development contracts. He has worked on projects in Western and Southern Europe, North Africa, North and South America, West Africa, central Asia and Australia.
