Dr Nick Johnson is a geologist with over twenty five years experience in the upstream. He has worked through the full E&P business cycle in both operated and non-operated functions. Nick has an extensive breadth of international experience, in Africa, Middle East, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Eastern Europe, Austria and in the North Sea. He has an excellent record of finding and exploiting commercial oil and gas fields.
Nick began his career in 1981 with BP, where he worked on a variety of supervisory and technical roles around the world. He joined OMV in 1991, working in both London and Vienna, and became Head of Global Exploration and Production responsible for the technical quality and development of OMV's global portfolio. He delivered significant success in many international settings, in particular the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan, Austria and in the North Sea (UKCS and Norway).

In 2005 , he joined Afren plc. As Head of Exploration and New Ventures, he was an integral part of the management team with full technical responsibility for the development and management of Afren's portfolio which grew rapidly to a total of 15 assets spread over 6 countries, producing over 20,000 boepd by the end of 2008.
In January 2009 Nick became an Associate with Simco. He brings an extensive and worldwide range of technical, business development and commercial experience. He has concluded many new business deals, especially in exploration, and has a particular interest and a high level of expertise in developing strategic plans and in the area of Portfolio Management.
He graduated in Geology in 1976 from Bristol University and a PhD from University College London in 1980. |
